What are some results of the downward force of gravity on Earth? What are impacts of the apparent brightness of the sun.

Common Core Standards 2017-2018 Print Unit 3
Intermediate - Science - Grade 5 - Unit 3
Space Systems: Stars and the Solar System
This unit explores certain patterns of space systems. Students must support an argument that the gravitational force Earth exerts is directed down, which means toward the center of Earth. The sun once again is shown as being very important because of its distance from Earth in comparison to other stars. This concept has a specific term (apparent brightness) and plays into other concepts of this unit. Also, included are patterns of daily changes in length and direction of shadows, day and night, and the seasonal appearance of some stars in the night sky.
