Students will be reviewing vital pre-requisite mathematical skills that they need to be successful in an Algebra I class.

Students will be reviewing vital pre-requisite mathematical skills that they need to be successful in an Algebra I class.  They will review their fraction, decimal, and percent problem solving skills.  Also they will examine their ability to do basic mathematical operations with signed numbers and graph inequalities on a number line.  During this Unit they will revisit order of operations, how to solve equations, and key expression vocabulary.  The unit will finish with a review of the students ability to use the coordinate plane, and the distance, midpoint, and Pythagorean Formulas.

8-EE-2: Solve linear equations with rational number coefficients.

8-G-6: The side lengths of a right triangle are related by the Pythagorean Theorem.

8-G-8: Use the Pythagorean Theorem to determine unknown side lengths in right triangles.

A-SSE-1: Understand that different forms of an expression may reveal different properties of the quantity in question.

A-APR-8: Transform simple rational expressions using the commutative, associative, and distributive laws, and the inverse relationship between multiplication and division.

A-CED-1: Understand that equations in one variable are often created to describe properties of a specific but unknown number.

A-REI-1:  Understand how to solve equations algebraically.

A-REI-11: Solve linear equations in one variable.

A-REI-14: Solve linear inequalities in one variable and graph the solution set on a number line.
